Raving Over Ritter Sport Chocolates

Okay, this was one of the most enjoyable reviews for me, my family, and everyone who was lucky enough to visit our house over the last few weeks. I mean, come on, who doesn’t want free samples of quality chocolate?

Ritter Sport sent me a few samples to try out before doing my review and the variety of chocolates was amazing.  Let’s see if I can remember all of the yummy goodness…and who favored which one.

*Alpine Milk Chocolate: Princess A loved “blue chocolate Mommy”…well, and so did I.

*Milk Chocolate with Yogurt: Everyone enjoyed this one.  Some scrunched their nose at it thinking it was not their style and were eating their words…literally. The kids LOVED it.  It had a nice light taste that was refreshing…not a word you would typically put with chocolate.  The yogurt “offered a tangy suprise”, is what One Daddy says. (Guess he should not have scrunched his nose up at it so fast, huh? 😉 )

*Milk Chocolate with Whole Hazelnuts: Due to my tree nut allergy, I left this one up to other family members and visitors.  One Mother in Law, One Father in Law, and a dear friend loved this one!

*Milk Chocolate with Butter Biscuits:  Ooohhh my!  Ritter Sport Butter Biscuit Chocolate was hands down my FAVORITE one!  It was tactile heaven…crunchy, buttery taste, with melt in your mouth chocolate surrounding it.  One Brother in Law loved this one as well.

*Milk Chocolate with Neopolitan Wafer:  This comes in second place for me and first or second for our little girl. This is like a divine Kit Kat bar; that expensive bottle of red wine that you open and know you can never drink the cheap version again.  The wafers were so soft; they almost melted in your mouth with the chocolate.

*Dark Chocolate & Dark Chocolate with Whole Hazelnuts:  One Step Mother is a dark chocolate lover and ooohed and aaahed over both of these.  I am still a milk chocolate girl at heart so when I tried the plain dark chocolate one, it didn’t do a whole lot for me.  Not because of the taste or the quality of Ritter Sport…simply because I prefer milk chocolate.  And with such a fine selection in the house, why settle?

So let’s compare Ritter Sport to my two other chocolate friendse tried recently.  When comparing it to Godiva, I would rate them the same.  Ritter Sport Chocolates have a nice rich taste to them and I am willing to bet if I wrapped a ginormous strawberry in it, I would be quite content.

One of my all time favorites is See’s Candies milk chocolate covered caramels…and they are still my favorite.   However, I must be forthright and say I did not sample any Ritter Sport chocolate that had caramel in it.  So who knows?

There are a few Ritter Sport Chocolates left on my to-do list: Whole Almonds, Caramel and Nuts, and Cornflakes.  Yes, cornflakes.  I grew up in a household that loved corn flakes on top of ice cream (please don’t think I am crazy…) so I have a warm spot in my heart for them.  Why not try some milk chocolate with them, huh?

Ritter Sport was founded in 1912 by Alfred and Clara Ritter in Waldenbuch, Germany, and is being run by a third generation of family.  Ritter Sport is sold in over 80 countries and they are committed to the environment.  I personally enjoy their snap open packaging–simple and effective.

Ritter Sport is the square chocolate with a difference.

Ritter Sport has been kind enough to sponsor 4 giveaways on From One Mommy to Another.  Each winner will receive one box with 84 mini bars!  How absolutely fun is that?  Stay tuned…the first Ritter Sport giveaway will start on Monday, January 4th!

(Disclosure: Ritter Sport sent me free samples of their chocolates for me to review.  My thoughts are just that…mine, and are not influenced by Ritter Sport.  They are also sponsoring giveaways for four winners on From One Mommy to Another.)
