Mini Apple Crumble Cups Recipe
Pillsbury Original Crescent Rolls are the base of this recipe. Without those rolls, you will just have cinnamon sugar-covered Granny Smith apples. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with that.
But we’re aiming for more of a pie feeling, and the crescent rolls deliver. Flour, sugar, and lemon juice will also help this crumble come to life in a way you didn’t know was possible with such an easy recipe.
Streusel Topping Ingredients
The topping is an entirely different recipe but will most likely end up being the star of the show. Neither of these recipes will be hard to put together and even easier to combine, but they do require separate ingredients.
For example, for the topping, you will need brown sugar. There will also be a need for softened unsalted butter and caramels to make this whole sweet treat come together.
How to Make Mini Apple Crumble Cups
Set 1/2 stick of unsalted butter aside to get to room temperature.
Unroll one can of original Pillsbury Crescents rolls.
Use a 2″ round cookie cutter to cut out 24 round circles.
Spray the mini muffin pan with nonstick spray and then lay the round dough in that muffin pan so the sides of the dough come up slightly on the sides.
In a large bowl, mix the sugar, flour & cinnamon. Combine the finely chopped apples, add lemon, and stir. Save a few apples to garnish later.
Divide this mixture evenly among the 24 dough cups.
How to make Apple Crumble Streusel Topping
In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup all-purpose flour and 1/2 cup brown sugar.
Cut 1/2 stick room temperature unsalted butter and mix into brown sugar and flour mixture.
Add 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
Lightly combine all of the streusel ingredients until crumbly with a fork or your hands. Divide this evenly over the 24 mini cup fillings and top with finely chopped apple chunks.
If you prefer, you can also add the apples after baking for texture, as we did.
Bake for 8-10 minutes until the tops are golden brown. Allow to cool for ten minutes.
Drizzle caramel over the top (melting instructions on the bag of caramels).
