Cranberry Margarita Recipe on the Rocks | Pitcher Recipe
Our cranberry margarita recipe on the rocks is not only enough to fill a pitcher of cocktails but also festive, which is perfect for the holiday season. Margaritas make the perfect cocktail because they basically taste like juice.
Of course, that makes them dangerous as well. All good things in moderation. That being said, these winter margaritas are amazing! It is like a glass of holiday spirit best enjoyed with a crowd.

Which means we can’t simply rely on just a single cocktail. Instead, we need at least one pitcher of margaritas for winter parties. This recipe is designed to solve that problem.
You won’t need any math, you don’t need to make it a glass at a time; instead, just follow the directions. You will end up with a pitcher filled with winter magic.

Cranberry Margarita Ingredients
- Cranberry Juice | We used 100% real cranberry juice. Don’t worry, the rest of the ingredients will add enough sweetness so you can enjoy the cranberry flavor.
- Orange | We used a fresh orange to make a small amount of orange juice. However, you can also just add ¼ cup of orange juice.
- Lime | Lime is a part of almost every tequila cocktail, and for obvious reasons. It adds a bit of tanginess that enhances the flavor.
- Simple Syrup | Some drinks let you pour in sugar and stir. However, we don’t want any grains of sugar inside, so simple syrup will add the sweetness.
- Tequila | We want to use blanco tequila here. Using darker tequila will ruin the winter-magic taste we are going for.
- Garnishes | Garnishes will be the most difficult part. We used sliced oranges and fresh cranberries. We also added sugar to the rim. You can go with whatever you’d like.

Best Tequila for Margaritas
This easy cranberry margarita recipe on the rocks calls for blanco tequila, as do most margaritas. This is because of how tequila is aged. We all know that wine is aged in barrels; almost all alcoholic beverages are aged this way.
However, the wood does impart some flavor into the alcohol. In fact, you will find that dark tequilas are just aged longer in the barrels. That’s not to say they got darker from age, not exactly.
Instead, the oak wood imparts some of its character to the alcohol, helping darken it. That flavor is good when you enjoy it by itself, but it doesn’t work so well when you add in fruit flavor.

How to Make Cranberry Margarita Pitchers
- Prepare your Margarita glasses by rubbing a lime wedge around the rim, then set them on a plate with the sugar and salt blend. Continue as needed. Set aside.
- In a large pitcher, combine the cranberry juice, orange juice, lime juice, and simple syrup. Give it a quick stir before adding the tequila.
- Then add the tequila and stir once more. Add the fresh cranberries to the pitcher. If you aren’t serving the margaritas immediately, store the pitcher in the refrigerator.
- When you are ready to serve, simply add ice to each prepared glass, pour, and cheers!
