Nearly NorCal Margarita Recipe
I love margaritas. A lot. But one thing has become abundantly clear as I approach my 40th next week. Sugar equals calories that don’t burn off quite as fast as they used to. Plus, I honestly don’t care for super sugary margaritas. That’s why the nearly NorCal margarita is perfect.

While I love a good NorCal margarita recipe, I often find myself without the amount of limes needed to make them and when we entertain and serve them it is less than ideal to juice twenty limes to make them for friends. This nearly NorCal Margarita Recipe maintains the intent of a traditional NorCal margarita, is easy to make, and keeps calories low while never compromising taste.
On the quest for a low calorie and easy margarita, I switched things up just a bit to make this rather spectacular and refreshing Nearly NorCal Margarita.
Nearly NorCal Margarita Recipe Ingredients
Tequila is the most important aspect of this margarita and most margaritas. I recommend a good Anejo tequila for a smooth taste. The good news is that tequila is literally made from the agave making it starch and gluten-free. (Not the case with Vodka which comes from potatoes and corn the majority of the time.)
You will also need to use some Tres Agaves Organic Margarita Mix. You can find this at most local grocery stores, BevMo and Total Wine.
Tres Agaves Organic Margarita Mix is our favorite mix because it literally contains three ingredients: freshly squeezed limes, purified water, and organic agave nectar.
Nearly NorCal Margarita Recipe Directions
1. Mix two parts tequila with one part Tres Agaves margarita mix.
2. Shake in a cocktail shaker and pour over ice.
3. Top with club soda.
A traditional NorCal Margarita is made with freshly squeezed lime juice and you can add a sweetener if needed. We opted to use our favorite Tres Agaves Mix because it is pretty much the same ingredients, but the recipe is SO much easier to make and saves a ton of time.
This is so important when we are entertaining friends or having a party; really – who wants to spend all of their time in the kitchen when friends are over? This nearly NorCal margarita recipe is one of our favorite happy hour cocktails; want an amazing appetizer to serve with it?
