Our rainbow loom tutorials have been so popular so we are bringing you another one to keep you and your children entertained.
Today Cal is sharing how to make a Starburst Rainbow Loom with step-by-step instructions.
The Starburst Rainbow Loom is a rather advanced design so be patient if it is initially hard for you.
Step 1: Put one band over two pegs and then a second band over two pegs sharing one peg in common with the first band as shown. Make sure the loom is positioned so the red arrow is pointing away from you as you do this entire tutorial.
Step 2: Continue looping one band over two pegs while sharing a peg with the prior band until you reach one peg from the end of the loom.
Step 3: Then loop one band over two pegs at a diagonal into the center row of pegs while sharing one peg in common with the last loom band as shown.
Step 4: Repeat steps 1-3 on the other side of the loom so your end result looks as shown in the photo. Then push all of the bands down on the pegs so you have room.
Step 5: Find your center row of pegs and go one in. Hook a band in that center peg and extend one band diagonally over to the right.
Step 6: Continue in a clockwise pattern looping from the center peg to the next open peg. Do not let the bands you add go below the prior bands. Push down the bands after each band is placed. It should look as shown.
Step 7: Go one peg up from your top center band. This will begin your next burst. Repeat steps 5 and 6 and be sure to push down as you go.
Step 8: Repeat 5-7 until you have completed six bursts as shown. Push all of the center bands down.
Step 9: Take one band and loop it so it looks like an 8 and then loop one half of the 8 over the other side so you have a circle as shown. Put one of these on the center of each burst and be sure they stay on top of prior bands. Finish by putting one of the last peg in the center row. Remember the red arrow is pointing away from you.
Step 10: Now turn the loom around so the arrow is pointing at you and get your hook. Put your hook through the first peg and loop the band from your first band and pull it over to the next peg up.
Step 11: Now go to the center peg of the burst and loop the first band under the capping band and pull it diagonally over to the lower right corner.
Step 12: Repeat step 11 with the next band under the capping band and loop it to the next counter clockwise peg.
Step 13: Repeat steps 10-12 for each burst until you have completed all of the bursts to look as shown (this photo shows 3 bursts completed).
Step 14: Go to the first peg with the arrow on the opposite end pointing toward you. Loop under the capping band and get the first band that has the band connected to the left peg. Pull it over the peg to the left diagonal as shown.
Step 15: Now going to the outside left peg that you just looped over – start here and loop the band under the burst and pull it over the peg to the top. Continue doing this all the way up the left side of the loom until you reach the top center peg.
Step 16: Go back to your starting peg and repeat step 15 up the right side of the loom.
Step 17: With the arrow pointing away from you, push your hook through hole between the bands between the center and right hooks that are closest to you.
Step 18: NOW BE CAREFUL and continue pulling off of the pegs until you have the bracelet removed from all hooks.
No bands remain on your loom and it should look as shown.
Step 19: If you have a small wrist, put one hook on and connect the ends together. If you have a larger wrist, put 4 or 5 bands down on the pegs as shown and loop the end that is not attached to the hook over the peg. This will be an extender.
Step 20: Now use an extra hook or other tool to make an original mini bracelet with the bands that are on the loom to form the extender. (i.e. Hook from one end over the hook in front.) Put an S or C Clip on the far end of the extender and pull it off.
Loop the clip through the bands on the other end of the Starburst Rainbow Loom bracelet and YOU ARE DONE!!!
