I can happily say I have made it through day 4 of the Standard Process Purification Cleanse! Yay for me!! Day 2 was the hardest thus far. That is when my cravings really set in for those extra nibbles or that one piece of chocolate…or two. Making it each day makes me stronger for the next because I don’t want to mess it up. If I have done this much, I better make it worth it. After 2 days, I was down 1.5 pounds. On days 2 and 3, I ate less rice and had it in smaller portions. Eating one cup at one sitting was a tad hard for me to digest.
Here is what I ate for days 2, 3, and 4 of the Standard Process Purification Cleanse.
On day 2, my caloric intake for the day was 1220 and I exercised for 30 minutes on the elliptical that morning. I did not find myself super hungry…just munchy.
Breakfast: strawberries and banana
Lunch: Salad with cucumbers and carrots with one serving lean turkey and 1/4 c. brown rice
Dinner: lean fish, 1/2 cup brown rice, & asparagus
On day 3, my caloric intake was 1333. I had 1/4 cup of brown rice with my breakfast because I knew I would be working out for an hour later in the morning. Standard Process recommends that you only walk 30-45 minutes 3-4 times a week while on the cleanse so I am trying to stick to that. That is a huge shift for me as I am used to exercising 5-6 days a week. I put my 5K running program on hold for the cleanse; I was afraid I would be too hungry to stick to the cleanse.
Breakfast: strawberries, banana, & 1/4 cup brown rice
Lunch: Salad greens with chicken
Dinner: 1/4 cup brown rice, lean turkey, & tons of broccoli
I munched on a few grapes when making dinner. Mind you – it took ALL of the restraint I had to not have a few crackers or anything bready. That is what I miss the most right now. When I look at the cleanse, it is not super different from my normal diet. I have more salads and less carbs. Oh – and no sweets. So it really just omits the side item I would normally have with a salad and those extra nibbles. Man – my son’s grilled cheese looked SOOO good at lunch. 🙂
I made it another day…It was an insanely crazy day, too, so I am proud that I made it through without emotional eating. We made a day trip to see my Dad for lunch and to visit my Great-aunt, which meant 2.5 hours each way in the van. After being on the road all day with the two kiddos by myself, I then came home to quickly unload and finish cleaning for 2 back to back showings on our house that is for sale. Great news that we had two showings – just a lot of running! So, the kids and I went out for dinner.
I figured my weight would be up from yesterday because of the sodium in the restaurant food, but I was down another 1.2 pounds from yesterday….and yesterday I was down 1 pound from Wednesday!! Yahoo!!
It is interesting how quickly my body has redefined what it means to be “full”. I had a banana for breakfast, salad greens with chicken/fresh fruit for lunch, and a salad with oranges/pineapple/chicken for dinner. I ate out so did not have access to brown rice so ate the croutons on my salad instead. I was feeling a bit lightheaded during lunch. Normally, that would mean grabbing the roll to fill me up, but instead I had a little bit of extra chicken. So basically the only refined carbs I had yesterday were croûtons. WOW!! I was full after each meal and felt like I overate yesterday, but then realized I had not. My body just feels full sooner…or I key into what it feels like to be full. It helps tremendously that I eat my salad without any carbs because I fill up on what is important vs. eating my roll first (I am German…do you know any Germans that would pass on a roll? LOL…).
I am hoping that the rewards on the scale and how great I feel on this are enough motivation to ward off the temptations of the weekend…a mixed drink, a roll with dinner, etc. Wish me luck!!
