Gin is the starring ingredient in this recipe. Which gin you choose to use is up to you, but you should definitely go with your favorite. Some people may assume that since this is a cocktail, the gin doesn’t really matter and that the other ingredients, like club soda, cucumber, mint, and sugar, will make up for quality.

But it won’t; the gin is essential. The question is, what gin do you like the most? We use Hendrick’s Gin in this cucumber cooler with gin recipe, but you can use any type of gin you like.

The important thing is that you don’t go for a good drink. You want the top shelf because you deserve it, especially after a day of sweating in the hot summer sun

Types of Gin

Did you know there are different types of gin? There are London Dry gins, Plymouth gins, New Wave gins, and quite a few others. London Dry gin is basically the OG gin.

This gin tastes like juniper and citrus, and it is dry. Plymouth gin is similar to London Dry. In fact, some say it is just a small twist on London Dry gin.

They say that it is more of a style rather than a type of gin. The difference is that it is a bit sweeter and most commonly used in gin and tonics.

Another type of gin is New Wave. New Wave gin almost completely ditches the juniper flavors and leans more into the citrus side of things. Of course, this is the gin we will be using in this cucumber cooler with gin recipe.

We are using Hendrick’s specifically because it leans into a cucumber flavor already.
