We love spending the day at Disneyland and California Adventure Park with the kids but have found a secret to success for our days – having one nice sit down meal during the day. One of our tried and true restaurants is Carthay Circle; we eat there almost every time we are at the parks but recently tried Wine Country Trattoria for the first time.
The Ambiance
The weather is beautiful in southern California and it’s always nice to dine outside where you can enjoy it. The vibe at Wine Country Trattoria is a sort of rustic chic meets Napa – a casual vibe that can dress up or down. The restaurant is casual enough that you can go in your regular park attire and feel comfortable; you can also dine with children of all ages. We saw plenty of parents with little ones in strollers roll them right up to the table as well.
There are two levels of dining and I believe the upper tier is for those who dine with the World of Color dining package. This is on our Disneyland bucket list for sure! How wonderful would it be to sit and relax with food and a glass of wine while watching our favorite show at the park?
A Smooth Arrival
It is safe to say that making reservations is helpful for most sit down restaurants at Disneyland and Wine County Trattoria is no exception. I will admit that we wing it more often than not, but making reservations is very easy so I know I need to do it more often. Reservations can be made by calling (714) 781-DINE or by booking online but remember that you need park tickets to dine here.
For the Love of Food
Guess what? We are not huge fans of Italian food in the typical pasta sense of the word.
Pizza and red wine? Absolutely!
That being said both my husband and I found the pasta dishes we ordered to be outstanding and the red wine our server suggested was the perfect match. If you are unsure of what to order the staff is very knowledgeable and can help guide you so you are happy with what you receive. For an Italian restaurant as comfortable as this one is, I would definitely love to see a nice pizza as a menu option.
For the Kids
Wine Country Trattoria has a nice kids menu with many of their favorites and some healthier options, too. The grilled chicken with pasta and vegetables was such a wonderful healthy option to refuel and balance out all of the treats Ava had consumed during the day. Cal loved his pizza and both kids loved the extra perks that come with eating here during parades.
Extra Perks
If you make a reservation at Wine Country Trattoria and have kids – or adults – that love parades, make sure your reservation overlaps with parade times in Disney California Adventure. This was our first time dining at this restaurant and the kids were giddy with excitement when they saw the parade starting and realized we could watch the entire thing from our front row seats at the restaurant. My husband and I enjoyed being able to sit back with a glass of wine and watch the joy on our children’s faces.
In the end, our family loves both Carthay Circle and Wine Country Trattoria because they each offer a unique perspective on the park with Wine Country Trattoria being the perfect choice for an outdoor dining experience with a view.
