Well – today I started my Standard Process Purification Cleanse. I am shooting for 10 days total so we will see how it goes. I did a cleanse last summer but am doing a different one this time. I have come to enjoy the supplements made by Standard Process and after much research decided to do their Wholesome Medley Purification cleanse. (Go to page 13 of the pamphlet that comes up.)
I read a great deal about a variety of cleanses. My goals are to get rid of this nasty Diet Coke enjoyment that formed when I was TIRED with a newborn. I am also praying that I can curb my sweet tooth (Come on – let’s be realistic…can I really get rid of it?). A nice bonus would be to finally shed the remaining 4 – 5 pounds I have left after having three beautiful children. As tempting as the Lemonade/Master Cleanse is because of the weight loss, I just did not think I could do it. Maybe someday I will have that willpower, but right now I am weak. 🙂 The Standard Process Wholesome Medley Purification is what I consider healthy (probably up for debate by someone I am sure…) because it incorporates unlimited fruits and veges, as well as 2 servings of lean protein and 2 cups of brown rice a day. So, I am trying really hard to stick to only that….and my coffee. It is not, nor will it ever be, my goal to get rid of coffee from my diet. I don’t drink that much, I drink it half caff, and what I do drink I LOVE! 🙂 Besides, I am a mother. Doesn’t that entitle me to coffee?
Here is where I will document my progress…
3/24: Day One
Breakfast: 3/4 cup strawberries, apple and coffee
Lunch: salad with cucumbers and chicken breast and water
Snack: .5 cup of corn while making dinner and a few grapes
Dinner: serving of lean ham, 1 cup brown rice, and broccoli
Total calories: 1522. I was not very hungry during the day. My worst time, as always, is 4-7ish. I want to munch while I make dinner and what not. I was amazed at how much energy I had all day. I am sure the supplements help with that, but it was great to not be grumpy. My discovery of the day….I had a cup of brown rice b/c I was hungry toward the end of the day and it is allowed. So I made a nice healthy dinner with brown rice. Then I looked at the calories!!! 640 for one cup!! OMG! Hmmm…do I want to eat 659 grapes and a banana or a cup of rice? 🙂 Tomorrow I will cut that down and eat something else. My other difficult time is when I am being a nice mommy sitting at the table with the kids while they finish….I want to munch and have a snack. But if I resist in these beginning days, hopefully the temptations will subside.

Good for you! I’ve done a cleans or two and for me, they are reserved for emergencies only, lol! Torture of the purest form until about day 3. You’re almost there by now!
