Every time we paint, we are reminded of how much we truly dislike it. Add in a metallic paint that needs two coats of primer before you can even think about painting and…well…you will still hate it. 🙂
We bought the house knowing we would repaint the room. But you know how that goes…the best of intentions don’t always come to fruition. Since it was our office, it stood a large chance of being the room that never quite made it high enough on the priority list to actually get some lovin’. But with my Mom here to watch the kids so we could immerse ourselves in fumes, we figured it was now or never.
Here is a before shot of the space ship. We did not realize how small the dark paint made the room look until we primed it.
Isn’t it pretty (that is sarcasm in case you could not tell…)?
Aaaahhhh – look at that nice glare.
So I prepped and put two coats of primer on while One Daddy was at work on Friday. Then we primed the trim Friday night (we are a fun couple, huh?), went to work on Saturday morning, and had the room finished by noon. It still needed to be reassembled, but the paint was on.
I should give a shout out to Ralph Lauren Paint here. This was our first time using that brand; I was told it provided great coverage and that most contractors use it. We used Behr paints in Princess A’s room and the office was much easier to cover with RL. We didn’t have those nagging spots that keep showing up where you didn’t quite get enough coverage. We would definitely use it again. Soooo….we put the room back together today and this is our end result.
One Mommy and One Daddy are happy with it, but very clear that our next painting job will be hired out. 🙂
